As part of our Losar practice commitment dedicated to our precious Lama Yeshe Jinpa, on Saturday, March 7, 2020, we will engage in the recitation and meditation of Barchad Lamsel in six 50-minute sessions, with a 10-minute break between sessions and a one hour potluck lunch. Noble silence will be maintained during breaks in order to extend the meditative power of the practice sessions into the post-meditation periods of the breaks.
This Monday, February 24, at 7:00 PM, we will celebrate Losar, the arrival of the new Year of the Iron Mouse, the year 2147 of the Tibetan calendar! The Zanabazar Dharma Center sangha will join with Lion’s Roar Dharma Center sangha at Do Nga Dargey Temple for our annual Losar Celebration. Lama Yeshe Jinpa and Geshe Damchoe Gurjav will lead us in the practice of a Windhorse meditation. Windhorse is a method that removes and dispels obstacles for ourselves and for all beings everywhere.
Robert Nakashima, 3rd Degree Black Belt with over 30 years of martial arts experience, will be teaching a course in Xingyi in the dojo/community center, on Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Xingyi Quan is the "Five Elements Form." Xingyi, means “mind intended,” and Quan translates as “form.” Together the slow, steady, controlled flow of movement and breath generates power and energy when needed. Students will begin to develop a connection to breath and body through this course. Beginners are encouraged!
After reading the children’s story, “The Kindness Quilt,” by Elizabeth Wallace, our Little Buddhas spent a recent Sunday morning drawing pictures of themselves engaged in random acts of kindness. Hugging, giving high fives, helping others who are in need, picking up trash, sharing cookies and taking care of animals were a few of their ideas.. They were such an inspiration.
Our sangha member Yeshe Tsewang (aka Michelle) reports from Lion's Roar Dharma Center III in San Pancho, Jalisco, Mexico: We have a beautiful space in a palapa at El Estar, a local yoga/therapy/wellness studio. Practice is every Monday at noon.
