Stories are powerful marketing tools
Buddhism from the Ground Up will be on the first and third Sundays of each month starting at 1 PM, following the Sunday Service. We study, discuss and meditate upon the Buddhist concepts and principles presented in the text which we read at home. It doesn’t matter if you are new to the Buddha’s teachings or a longtime practitioner, in fact you don’t need to be a Buddhist at all to benefit from these teachings. Class members will each facilitate discussions and bring personal perspectives of how the teachings enrich our lives and open our hearts and minds.
Using the book “don’t believe everything you think” by Ven. Thubten Chodron we will explore what it means to walk the Bodhisattva path. This book uses the 13th century text by Togmay Zangpo called The Thirty-seven Practices of Bodhisattvas. Each practical and concise verse contains layers of meaning which helps us solved current problems, obtain more happiness, and lead us along the path to enlightenment. Ven. Chodron states “Spiritual practice is about how we live our daily lives and so instead of believing everything we think, we need to have some creative doubt, stretch our mind and encompass new perspectives.”
