Venerable Tenzin Yeshe
Shortly after receiving Refuge from Lama Jinpa, Venerable Tenzin Yeshe was drawn to ordain as a Buddhist nun in His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama’s tradition. Prior to ordination, she attended monastic training at Sravasti Abbey. In 2011, Jhado Rinpoche, Kenchen Rinpoche, Geshe Damchoe, Geshe Tashi and Venerable Steve bestowed her monastic ordination vows and she became the first nun in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition through Lion’s Roar Dharma Center.
Ven. Tenzin is a native of Sacramento, has Bachelors of Arts degrees in Philosophy and Psychology. In 2012, she completed Geshe Tashi Tsering’s certificated two year program “The Foundation of Buddhist Thought” through Jamyang Buddhist Centre in London. She has attended many teachings by H.H. the XIV Dalai Lama and other high lamas in the Gelug tradition. She has attended many group retreats and frequently solo retreats.
Venerable Tenzin’s greatest passion is her work as a volunteer chaplain at Folsom State Prison through the Buddhist Pathways Prison Project. Her enthusiasm for interfaith practices led her to launch an interfaith meditation group via meetup.com “Change Your Mind/Change your Life” offering instruction to those who seek to deepen their spiritual lives. She has a genuine, simple, direct and often humorous approach to life’s surprises. She is available for private interviews.
