Building a Sacred Altar

LRDC_2015Review_092Dear Friends,

I am excited to share that we have started planning for the construction and installation of Do Nga Dargey’s formal Altar area. This is an important step and should be considered a mini representation of the whole Temple’s expression of awareness. In Vajrayana, we believe form and emptiness are united. It’s not only our minds that attain enlightenment, our bodies must also. We embrace both enlightened body and mind together so when we create sacred beautiful environments like an Altar, we are uniting those expressions of body and mind to attract and magnify enlightened energy.

An Altar is meant to inspire our meditation practice, support our Buddha-nature and help us wake up faster!   When we look to the Altar, there is a spontaneous sense of openness and freedom. We want to give people the experience of colorful and energetic manifestation of awareness!

Losar 2016!

Our goal in the next month is to raise $4,000 and to have the foundation of the Altar built and in place in time for the Tibetan New Year celebration on February 14, 2016. I hope you can join the celebration and see the product of the Sangha’s generosity. Then over the coming months we will be reaching out to Mongolian artists to directly commission the creation of a traditional Buddha statue to serve as the main focal point of the Altar. It is very important that we support dharma by directly commissioning an artist and help support them and their families doing this important work. The rest of the donations will be used to purchase additional sacred objects to be used on the altar such as water bowl, altar cloths and offering objects.

Joy in Giving!

Creating a sacred Altar is a very exciting endeavor; one that I hope will inspire you to donate. I will continue to keep you up-to-date on our progress in the next few weeks. I appreciate your continued support for this important work that we are bringing to the Sacramento community.

To help with the creation of Do Nga Dargey’s Altar please send a donation! Your donation is very much appreciated and is tax deductible #68-0404269.
