The Heart Sutra is a member of the Perfection of Wisdom (Prajñāpāramitā) class of Mahāyāna Buddhist literature, and along with the Diamond Sutra, is perhaps the most prominent representative of this class of sutras.

The Buddhist teachings on the Great Wisdom of Emptiness is presented in the Heart Sutra. Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, when deeply practicing prajna paramita, clearly saw that all five aggregates are empty and thus relieved all suffering. This sutra is frequently recited before Dharma teachings. While the sutra itself is short, many text commentaries are long and detailed. Lion's Roar Dharma Center is honored to host Choden Rinpoche for a teaching on this essential Buddhist text.
